PRENATAL CARE
Midwifery care is founded on a relationship of trust. Your visits allow plenty of time to have all of your questions answered. Blood work and other basic testing is done right at home or in – office, whichever you prefer. Supportive herbs are included in your global fee. Blythe travels to all islands for in-home prenatal visits, or sees clients in her Friday Harbor office, according to preference.
HOME BIRTH
Give birth in the familiarity and comfort of your own home. Your midwife Blythe and her assistant will unobtrusively monitor you throughout your labor. Freedom, privacy and options like water birth with tub rental included in your fee. And the best part, no long distance travel with your newborn and we clean up afterwards!
POSTPARTUM CARE
The first few days are instrumental in establishing breastfeeding and processing emotions. Your midwife provides complete postpartum care in your home on day 1, 3,5, 7, 2 and 6 weeks. All newborn screening tests are completed during this time, as well as a pap at your last visit if needed.

Don’t have insurance? This option includes all prenatal and postpartum care plus the birth, herbal support and tub rental. We do not wish for payment to be an obstacle for your family to have the birth that you desire. We offer flexible and long-term payment plans, as well as accept credit cards.

In the hope to create a more sustainable community, while making care affordable for all, I offer partial trade of services so that we may fully support one another. Complete Midwifery Care with Planned Hospital Birth
Desire a hospital or birth center birth? This offering is for those who desire full on-island prenatal and postpartum midwifery care but are planning a birth on the mainland. We work in partnership with mainland healthcare providers and transfer your records around 34 weeks. Care picks up postpartum in your home after you return to the island with your baby.
Placenta Encapsulation and/or Tincture $300
It has been a time honored tradition in many cultures to ingest the placenta after birth. This modernized concept incorporates the Yin and yang concept of Chinese medicine with a steam preparation followed by dehydration ending in pill form, to be taken in the initial week of the postpartum period. The purpose of the mother ingesting encapsulated placenta is to reintroduce the beneficial vitamins, minerals, hormones, proteins, and other nutrients to her body following labor and birth to help restore a more balanced body function, preventing “baby blues” and postpartum depression, increase milk production and quality, shorten healing time, increase maternal energy levels and provide an overall feeling of wellness.

In-house Laboratory services
We offer all of the same routine testing done in a hospital setting. Everything from the standard prenatal lab tests and PAP smears, to state of the art genetic testing is offered. In home metabolic, hearing and congenital heart disease screening for your baby is done postpartum.
